Events for 2025

The WOAW Michigan Chapter will be hosting a responsible forest foraging workshop on MFA’s property in Emmet County (Valley Road) on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 3:00-5:00pm. During the casual walk around the loop of this 40 acre forest, we will identify plants that have culinary, medicinal, or other values, discussing responsible harvesting practices and respect for the land. All are welcome!

Join your MFA guides as we visit their properties in Clare and Wexford Counties to learn about their goals, and how the management plans are put into action. We’ll also take some time to enhance access by removing encroaching brush and any fallen limbs. Lunch provided!

The Argow Property (Wexford County) “Work Bee” is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00am-3:00pm. This event’s goal is to clear the two-track loop for easier access to the property. Please bring any tools, gloves, etc that you would like to use. You’re welcome to be a part of this work for all or just part of the time. Lunch and refreshments will be provided!

These events are designed to serve as an opportunity to learn from family forest owners on how they sustainably manage their own properties. Dates TBD
